A violin shop near you

Choosing a violin shop is not as easy as it seems. There are many factors that need to be considered before making the purchase of a new instrument or bow. The most important of these factors being the violin’s condition and quality.

The age of a violin is determined by two different categories: new and old violins. New violins are made from modern materials and they have a more even sound than old violins, which were made with natural materials and have a more uneven sound. However, it is said that an old violin has better tonal qualities than new ones because wood becomes more resonant with time. This happens over time as the instrument starts to vibrate from the musician playing the instrument.

A luthier can be defined as someone who makes string instruments like violins, violas, cellos and bows, using woodworking techniques such as carving or shaping the wood. A luthier will carefully select the type of wood for their instrument based on its acoustic properties to make sure that it will produce the desired tone when played.
